 Siesta (charcoal) Recently framed to a high standard Overall size 69cms x 47cms | IntroductionI rarely paint with brushes but prefer to spread paint on to the canvas with my hands, with a credit card, a flexi-scraper or any interesting shape that comes to hand. I draw into the paint with my fingertips and add shading or light with my fingers. This way, I connect fully and deeply with my subject. I work big, whenever possible, moving from the shoulder, standing away frequently and going off to do something different before returning: to improve, alter, tweak, edit, rehash, rethink or persevere. My Work... is as varied as the weather in Scotland. On this site you'll see my latest pieces: paintings worked from Life Drawings - I love the human form; and abstracted sea and landscapes. There are no limitations to what I'll try to achieve for a visual effect. As you'll see in my CV, I'm an artist who'll use whichever material provides what I want. Approach
I am a professional artist : it is my full time occupation to be creating, my life revolves around it and always has done. I paint, draw, write, sculpt or knit whatever I feel like creating. I don't do commissions - it has to be really special.
